FAQ's Transition to Year 7

Transition booklets, including this information, will be sent out before the end of the Summer term. We like all children to receive them at the same time.

There will be a letter giving instructions on how to apply for this in the pack with the transition booklet and we will aim to have these with your child on the first day of term, if applications are received in time.

Bus passes will be sent directly to the home address.

You will receive an email inviting you to log in to our SIMS Parent App.

Just let us know and we will do our best to resolve any issues. You can contact the tutor, the Head of Year or just ring or email the main office.

Tell them not to worry: we were all new once. Somebody will always help! Students will be accompanied at all times on the first day. There is a straight-forward map in the transition booklet.

They should sign in at main school reception unless it is before 8.45 am when they should report to their tutor room.

Please put a note in your child’s diary for that day and ask them to go to Guidance and Welfare office for them to sign.  The students should present this at Reception when signing out for the appointment. We ask that you try to make appointments outside the school day.

Lost property is kept in the Guidance and Welfare Office and students should ask there if it has been handed in.  We strongly advise parents to label items clearly.

They should tell a member of staff and report to the Medical Room. Students should not phone their parents directly as we will manage that for them.

Confiscated items are sent to Guidance and Welfare and your child should collect these from there at the end of the day/Friday afternoon as appropriate.

Explain to the subject teacher before the lesson.  If parents are able to drop off forgotten items, they should be clearly named and left with Reception. Students will be given a homework timetable.

Please phone the main school number and select the appropriate option to report your child’s absence. Please do this for every day of the absence.

You will need to write a letter to the Headteacher explaining the circumstances for your request.  This can be handed in at Reception or emailed to office@blandfordschool.org.uk

Please note that in line with government guidance, holiday absences are only authorised in very rare cases and with exceptional circumstances and that a financial penalty may result.

Replacement cards should be ordered from reception. They cost £3.00. We are now cashless so this can be paid via ParentPay.

Please order a new diary through Guidance & Welfare. The cost at time of print is £3.00.

They can ask reception to call home to see if parents can bring money/packed lunch in or they can ask for a lunch loan of up to £2.50 which has to be repaid the following day at Reception.

If they have forgotten their ParentPay card, they can obtain a slip from reception and present it at The Hub and the funds will automatically be deducted from their card.

Please send an email to office@blandfordschool.org.uk for the attention of the Head of Year containing all relevant information, date, times etc.
