Homework
Homework is an important part of learning at The Blandford School. It gives students the opportunity to consolidate and extend what they have learned in the classroom, develop their understanding and build the independent study skills that will support them throughout their education and beyond.
Regular homework helps students to revisit key knowledge, practise important skills and identify areas where they may need further support. It also encourages good habits such as organisation, time management, resilience and taking responsibility for their own learning.
Homework may take a variety of forms depending on the subject and year group, including revision and retrieval practice, reading, research, written tasks, online activities, preparation for future lessons or completing and improving classwork.
We encourage students to approach homework with the same Respect, Effort, Attitude and Perseverance (REAP) that we expect throughout school. Completing homework regularly and to the best of their ability helps students make strong progress and ensures they are well prepared for assessments, examinations and the next stage of their education.
Parents and carers also play an important role by encouraging positive homework routines, helping students to manage their time and providing a suitable environment for study wherever possible.
By working together, we can help students develop the confidence, independence and positive learning habits they need to achieve their potential.
