Homework Timetable Guidelines:

Year 7: 1 hour per day, including 2 × 20-minute sessions on different subjects and 20 minutes of reading. Knowledge organisers introduced.

Year 8: 1.5 hours per day, including 2 × 30-minute sessions on different subjects and 30 minutes of reading. Knowledge organisers introduced.

Year 9: 1 to 1.5 hours per day.

Years 10 & 11: 1 to 2 hours per day.

Years 12 & 13 (Sixth Form): Students are expected to complete 4 hours of independent study per subject per week, with homework possibly set in addition. They have supervised study and non-contact periods to support this, but should still complete at least 2 hours of work per day outside of taught lessons.

We have a clear anti-bullying policy. Students can report concerns, and incidents are addressed promptly. Our student Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are also on hand every lunch and break.
Students have a tutor, Head of Year, and Guidance & Welfare Officer. Additional support includes mentoring, counselling, wellbeing support, and our full-time Student Support Worker, Kirsty Radford.

If your child feels unwell at school, they must tell a member of staff, who will arrange for them to be seen by a First Aider or taken to the Medical Room. Students should not contact parents/carers directly.

No. Students must not contact parents/carers directly using their mobile phones if they feel unwell. This is in line with the school’s Mobile Phone Policy.
All decisions about students going home due to illness are made through the Medical Team, and parents/carers will be contacted by the school if necessary.

Unlike primary school, there are no set time restrictions for most illnesses. Your child can return to school as soon as they are feeling well enough to participate in lessons and normal school activities.

If your child needs medication during the school day, parents/carers must bring the medication to Reception and complete a Medication Consent Form. Medication cannot be administered without this form. Medication should be provided in its original packaging and clearly show the expiry date.Â

Yes! Packed lunches are welcome. Food is also available at The Hub at break and lunchtime. For more information: Click Here
If your child forgets their lunch, please drop it in to the office before 1PM and we will get this to them.
If this is not possible your child can visit the school reception for a lunch loan, once the invoice from the kitchen has been generated, you will be requested via email to repay the loan.
From Year 7, students receive guidance from our Careers Lead, Paul Gilson (pgilson@blandfordschool.org.uk).
From Year 9, students have individual guidance sessions with our career advisor from EDT. This support helps students explore strengths, set goals, plan next steps, and discover opportunities.
