TBS Does... The Land’s End to John O’Groats Challenge
Students, staff and families from The Blandford School are coming together this summer to take on an ambitious 24-hour endurance challenge in support of two incredible charities.
Beginning at 5pm on Friday 3rd July and finishing at 5pm on Saturday 4th July, participants will aim to collectively walk, run and cycle the equivalent distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats - an incredible 1400 kilometres in just 24 hours.
The challenge is being organised to raise money and awareness for two worthy causes: Teddy20, a local charity supporting children and families living with cancer, and Andy’s Man Club, a charity focused on men’s mental health and suicide prevention.
The event has been designed as a true community effort, with groups setting off every hour throughout the 24-hour period along the Blandford Trailway between the school and The Black Cat Café near Shillingstone. Participants can choose to complete a 5km, 7km or 14km walk, run or cycle and are welcome to take part in multiple legs of the challenge.
To ensure the challenge continues uninterrupted, a group must be on the trailway at all times across the full 24 hours, creating a fantastic opportunity for the whole school community to get involved and support one another.
The event will also include a Community Day on Saturday 4th July on the school field, offering families and supporters the chance to come together and celebrate the challenge and the charities being supported.
Important participation information:
- Sign-ups must be completed by Friday 22nd May.
- Students in Years 7–11 must participate with an adult family member.
- Sixth Form students may take part independently but must be in a group of at least four.
- All participants are responsible for their own preparation, participation and safety throughout the event.
Regular ParkRunners can also contribute to the overall distance by registering their 5km towards the total on Saturday 4th July via the event hub on the school field.
We encourage everyone in our community to get involved, whether by taking part, volunteering or cheering participants on throughout the event.
