Iceland Geography Trip 2026
Iceland Geography Trip 2026
Students from The Blandford School enjoyed an unforgettable Geography trip to Iceland, taking their learning beyond the classroom and experiencing some of the country’s extraordinary landscapes first-hand.
The trip began in ReykjavĂk, where students explored the city, visited the iconic Sun Voyager, saw the harbour and colourful streets, and experienced the remarkable opportunity to stand between two continents. A visit to Hellisheiði Power Plant also allowed students to learn about geothermal energy and see how Iceland harnesses its natural resources.
The adventure continued with a day exploring Iceland’s dramatic south coast. Students visited two spectacular waterfalls, including the memorable experience of walking behind one, before travelling to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach with its striking volcanic landscape.
At Sólheimajökull Glacier, students were able to see a glacier up close and connect their classroom learning with the physical landscape around them. The day concluded at the Lava Centre, where a guided tour and interactive workshops brought Iceland’s volcanic activity and geology to life.
From glaciers and waterfalls to volcanoes, geothermal energy and tectonic landscapes, the trip provided an incredible opportunity to experience Geography in action.
Throughout the visit, our students represented The Blandford School brilliantly and demonstrated our REAP values – Respect, Effort, Attitude and Perseverance.
A fantastic educational experience and, most importantly, a collection of memories we hope our students will treasure for years to come.
