Year 7 – Meet the Tutor

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome to the Year 7 Meet the Tutor page. Even though we are unable to host this in person this year, I hope you find the information you are about to hear valuable.

Please scroll down to find the relevant presentation from your child’s tutor, and while you’re at it, spend 10 minutes listening to our Key Stage 3 literacy leader Mrs Hayball, talk about the vital importance of reading.

The relationship between students and their tutor is a valuable constant as the journey through their time with us and the current year 7 are lucky to have a fantastic team looking after them. I would like to say how impressed I have been with the start that Year 7 have made, in spite of the lack of transition over the summer term, and the overwhelming majority have embraced our core values of Respect, Effort, Attitude and Perseverance, as evidence by the number of merit certificates we have already issued in the first few weeks. The tutor’s role is a broad one, and it is my wish that the 40 mins spent each day purposefully supports your child in maximising their progress by not only reinforcing key literacy and numeracy abilities, but also helping build importance ‘softer skills’ of kindness, empathy, communication and initiative to name but a few.

Should you have any general questions following the presentation please do not hesitate to contact us. An email to office@blandfordschool.org.uk is best, with ‘Year 7 Meet the tutor evening question’ as the subject heading.

I look forward to working with you over the next 5 years to support your child’s learning, progress, and enjoyment of school. May I take this opportunity to wish you an enjoyable half term break.
